Why do our drivers offer rides with such big discounts?

In some occasions, the drivers HAVE TO do some rides with an empty taxi. For example, when they drop customers off far away and need to return back home, or when they need to pick up passengers and they need to depart from far away.
When they don't have passengers for these rides, they prefer to take some passengers for at least half the price and recover some expenses of that ride.
